Welcome to the New Meadows River Cottages

The New Meadows River Cottages were built in 1948 by Samuel Armstrong and have been owned and operated by three generations of the Armstrong family since then. Today our upgraded facilities accommodate the modern traveler with high speed internet service, satellite TV, and air conditioning but we still retain the charm and hospitality of that earlier era.

Situated between Brunswick and Bath in Maine's midcoast region, we are within easy access of many local attractions. The New Meadows River provides twelve miles of protected waters perfect for canoe or kayak. Look for osprey, great blue heron and bald eagles. Bring your boat or rent one for the day at the marina and enjoy excellent fishing for striped bass or blue fish. Beautiful sandy beaches are twenty minutes away; tee up at the Bath Country Club; shop at nearby LLBean and outlet stores in Freeport or explore the many local antique shops; learn about shipbuilding past and present at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath; and of course, plan on a delicious lobster dinner at the end of the day!

  • This was a wonderful cottage to stay in while visiting Maine. There was a great porch to enjoy the scenery, and the feel of the area was very serene. I very much enjoyed my stay at the cottage.

  • The cottages and property were nice and well maintained. Rick did a great job of confirmation and follow up. We would stay here again.

  • Great cottage efficiency -- worked perfectly for an overnight in West Bath. We didn't get to explore the area much (we were in town for a wedding), but the unit was great for what we needed. It had more character than a hotel room, and had everything we needed.

  • Excellent, and most importantly, right across the street from Schutty's ;)

  • I stayed here for two nights with my husband and my 8-lb dog Beans. The cabin is very basic but it is clean and comfortable

  • The cabin was a perfect place to stay for a couple looking to explore the Bath/Boothbay area on a budget. It had everything we needed and we loved sitting on the porch in the evenings with a glass of wine. Our host, Rick, was very accommodating and had some great recommendations for local spots to check out. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Charming and comfortable Maine cottage. Recommended lobster dinner spot and breakfast cafe were terrific. Would recommend this cottage to anyone!

  • We had the flexibility to come and go as we please, check-in and check-out were easy, and they're so welcoming and hands-off. Cabins looked rustic but fully appointed, even kitchen items and a range if we wanted to cook, plus a mini fridge and small table. Good for a couple. It wasn't too far to downtown Brunswick, I'd recommend it for any parents looking to visit their kids at Bowdoin and have a nice getaway at the same time! We'd go back again whenever we're in the area.

  • The cottages were great. Canoes/kayaks were just across the street at Seaspray. We stayed one night and had a great paddle out on the river. Some traffic noise outside (just passing cars), but from inside the cabin it was not an issue. Reminded me of cabins we used to stay in way back when. Nice to sit out on the porch at sunset. Very clean. Would stay again!
